Common questions
How do I allow location and motion access?
During onboarding the app asks for Location and Motion & Fitness permissions. For automatic trip detection, choose Always Allow for Location in iOS Settings → VOTAVI Survey (or SurveyApp) → Location. You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
How do I complete a survey?
Open the app, go to the surveys section, and select an available survey. Surveys open in an in-app browser. Complete all required questions and submit as instructed on the survey form.
Why does the app need background location?
The study aims to understand real-world travel behavior. With your consent, trips can be detected while the phone is in a pocket or bag and the app is in the background. Location and motion data are used only for the research study, not for advertising.
How do I stop tracking or withdraw consent?
You can manage consent and stop tracking in the app under Settings (Data & Privacy). You can also turn off Location access for the app in iOS Settings. For deletion or other data-protection requests, email [email protected].
Why don’t I see trip statistics yet?
Automatic trip detection needs real movement over time with location permission enabled. Trips may not appear immediately on a stationary device or right after install.
Is there a login?
No username or password is required. The app creates a pseudonymous participant identifier on first launch so survey responses and trip data can be associated for the study.
